Moving Averages merupakan indikator yang paling sering digunakan dan paling standar. Jika di Indonesiakan artinya kira-kira adalah rata-rata bergerak. Moving average sendiri memiliki aplikasi yang sangat luas meskipun sederhana. Dikatakan sederhana karena pada dasarnya metode ini hanyalah pengembangan dari metode rata-rata yang biasa kita kenal di sekolah (nah, ada gunanya juga bukan kita bersekolah?).
Moving average mempunyai tiga varian yang berbeda yaitu Simple Moving Average, Weighted Moving Average dan Exponential Moving Average. Masing-masing merupakan metode rata-rata bergerak, hanya saja cara me-rata-ratakannya yang berbeda satu sama lain.
